Three Canadian Trains Derailed In Crash
Separate Canadian Pacific Railway Trains Meet In Collision
Ralph, Sask- In addition to smoke a multitude of derailed train cars, there appears to be mainly an abundance of confusion regarding the three Canadian Pacific Railway cars that met near Ralph, Saskatchewan.
The Fire Chief of Weyburn responded to the call at about 8:15 am Saskatchewan local time, and the initial examination appears that operator error was the cause of the derailment.
“One train was on a siding, one train was passing, and a third train came up and hit the first train that was stationary,†said Denis Pilon, Weyburn Fire Chief.
It is estimated that as many as ten cars, or as few as six train cars have left their tracks. There does not appear to be any hazardous chemicals or dangerous materials that were involved in the accident.
There did not appear to be any flagrant violations or other gross negligence, merely a case of misjudging the distances while three trains were in close proximity.
The investigation continues. All cars on all three trains have been put back in service, and there does not appear to have been a great deal of damage, the collision appears to have occurred at relatively slow speed.
