Air Canada Aircraft Lands Safely With No Injuries
Calgary- There was a second emergency landing in the last week on Sunday at the Calgary Airport. An Air Canada Jet that was en-route to Toronto landed unexpectedly in Calgary.
Both crew and passengers smelled a very strong acrid ordour in the area of the front galley. Because of the smell and because no one could find where the smell was coming from the aircraft, a Boeing 777 landed immediately at the closest airfield.
This measure was taken as a precaution, to ensure the safety of all passengers and the crew.
“They smelled a foul acrid odour and no one could find the source,” said a spokesman for Air Canada. John Reber is the spokesman for Air Canada and spoke to reporters following the incident.
“The pilot was not going to take any chances, so the plane landed immediately at 2pm, as a safety measure,” said Mr. Reber.
The entire plane was being inspected Sunday afternoon, with a precise cause of what caused the Odour not known. Air Canada dispatched another plane, which took care of some of the passengers, while others were immediately put on other flights to complete their travel.
Word of what caused the acrid smell was not known as of Monday morning, according to Mr. Reber.
