Montreal- Family and Friends of a Canadian man are demanding assistance from the Canadian Government. 22-year-old Mohamed Kohail was found guilty of murder by a Saudi Arabia court, and then given a sentence of execution by beheading.
Following the sentencing, associates and family of the convicted Canadian man began to demand that the Canadian government intervene and help prevent the execution.
Mr. Kohail was allegedly mixed up in a brawl concerning his brother, Sultan. It occurring in a schoolyard, one that resulted in the death of one boy. A schoolgirl was apparently insulted and her cousin demanded that Sultan Kohail apologize, but Sultan refused to apologize. He then called out to his brother, Mohamed.
A fight ensued, one involving Mohamed, his brother Sultan, and several other boys. At one point one of the other boys was struck, fell to the ground, and then died.  Mohamed and his brother Sultan were arrested, and faced trial in a Saudi Arabia Court.
A Canadian foreign affairs spokesman has confirmed that Mohamed has been convicted and faces the death penalty. “We are very concerned and disappointed because of this verdict issued by the authorities in Saudi Arabia,†said Foreign Affairs spokesperson Bernard Nguyen.
Another boy from Saudi Arabia was also convicted at the same time and sentenced to be executed. Both of the young men have 80 days in which to appeal their sentences.
