Bridgewater, N.S.- A disturbing and tragic conclusion seems to be the result of an ongoing search for a young twelve-year-old Bridgewater female. Twelve-year-old Karissa Boudreau has been missing for two weeks.
Police from Bridgewater and the RCMP have combed the area, and brought in search and rescue dogs, and conducted intensive group searches.  Karissa attended Elementary school in Bridgewater, and first went missing around 530pm January 27th.
Last yesterday police announced a body has been found on the banks of the LaHave River. Positive identification is pending, but it is widely believed that the body is of the little girl.
A vigil was held and townspeople gathered to try and support the family of Karissa. Most of the assembled people at the vigil reflected the mood of the entire town. They all believe it likely is the body of Karissa.
“They are not yet saying its her, but everyone believes that it is,†said Barb Wicks, a local Bridgewater Resident. The relatives of the Boudreau family attended the vigil, and wept at the news of the body’s discovery.
Bridgewater Police Officer Sergeant John Collyer has led the search for the missing young girl, and he was present when the body was discovered. He stated that the search would continue around where the body was found. The constantly falling snow in the town makes searching more difficult.
