Wednesday, November 18, 2009 – A 90 year old man has been charged with a massacure that happened in the final months of World War Two.
The war crimes came out after a University of Vienna student Andreas Forster, had done some researching on the massacre of March 1945 and discovered some documents that had Storms name on them. Forster then passed the information to Duisburg state prosecutors.
Adolf Storm an ex-SS Sergeant is being charged with murdering fifty-eight Jews. It was said that he marched fifty-seven forced Jewish labourers to a near by forest by the village of Deutsch Schuetzen, Austria. The Jews were then forced to kneel by a large grave and then shot in the backs. Adolf is also being accused of killing a labourer who had collapsed during the march to the grave side.
When the war had ended Storms interned in a US prisoner of war camp briefly. He then was able to return to his home in Duisburg, Germany, where he has resided the past sixty years.
The charges against him in the case is led by Ulrich Maass who also is prosecuting the trial of 88 year old Heinrich Boere who is charged with shooting 3 Dutch resistance fighters.
The court documents say “ On March 29, 1945, the accused and his accomplices brought at least 57 Jewish forced labourers in several groups to a nearby forest area, where they had to surrender their valuables and kneel by a grave. The accused and other SS members then cruelly shot the Jewish forced labourers from behind.”
