
Two Children Killed When Car Enters Danger Zone Near Convoy
Kandahar, Afghanistan- An unfortunate tragic shooting resulted in the deaths of two young children in Afghanistan.
A car approached a Canadian Convoy in Afghanistan on Sunday.
A Canadian solider acting on establish protocol fired a warning burst and when the car still did not stop then fired into the car, killing the occupants.
Killed in the firefight was an Afghanistan male adults, and two young children.
The rules of engagement are there to protect everyone, and despite the fact the occupants of the vehicle were killed, the driver was given ample warning, both in English and his native tongue, and the warning burst in the road should have also prevented the incident.
The different convoys ran by the Canadian troops and the Coalition has repeatedly been attacked, with loss of lives by suicide car bombers.
The attacks to the soldiers by the Taliban have been widely publishes, and the drivers know the rules.
“The driver knew exactly what he was doing, and that he would sacrifice himself and two young children is criminal,” said Chris Alexander, the UN Special Representative.
“We always strive for the best result, but sometimes people choose to end their own lives, “ said Alexander.
