Drug Resistant Infection MRSA Being Fought Nationwide
Chicago-More and more hospitals around the nation are taking steps to fight the MRSA infection that has been coined “Superbug,†but there is a great deal of improvement still needed according to infection control experts.
The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology is a group that issues reports on a regular basis about the state of dangerous infections in hospitals in America.
Last year the APIC found that the MRSA Superbug was present in hospitals in nearly 46 out of every 1,000 patients.
The APIC found that this year there is a lot of improvement in hospitals around the United States, but there is more work that needs to be done in battling different anti biotic resistant forms of infection.
In their examination this year, 54 percent of their membership related that the hospitals that they work at could do more than they are currently doing to battle and combat infection in their respective hospitals and medical facilities.
The report by the APIC group is a troubling one, considering the ability of hospitals across the nation to fight different groups of infection and disease.
One positive note: overall the APIC found that hospitals across the nation are beginning to move in the right direction, they are starting to take the presence of infection resistant disease and infection seriously.
