Boston (EON) – Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called and began a meeting of world leaders to try and get immediate action on climate change.

He stated that “Today, the time for doubt has passed.” He spoke to delegated in the United Nations General Assembly hall. He showcased that there is scientific evidence which is undisputable that something must be done and that the moment to act was right now.

He stated that “scientists have very clearly outlined the severity of the problem.” He stated that the consequences could be “devastating” if nothing is done.

He is hoping to push action as he stated that affordable technologies to help with the problem now are already available.

“Inaction now will prove the costliest action of all in the long term.” Over 150 nations took part in the one-day debate which was organized by the UN Chief. He is getting everyone ready to launch negotiations on an agreement to a successor of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol which limits emissions of greenhouse gases.
