40 years will be the maximum sentence that Estrada has to serve. A Philippine anti-corruption court on Wednesday convicted the former president of the Philippines.

Estrada was found by the court to be guilty of plunder. He was acquitted on a perjury charge though.

Properties Estrada acquired while in power including mansions, and such have also been ordered to be confiscated.

He received more than $85 million illegally from tobacco taxes, commissions, etc.

The 70-year-old has been in detention for six years but will now be headed to jail.

The current president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was the vice president to Estrada and took power in 2001 after Estrada was ousted due to the allegations of corruption.
