Washington (EON) – President Bush spoke on Thursday to try to get two more months for his Iraq strategy.

It was a last ditch effort by Bush to gain some sort of support following many Senate Republicans beginning to back away from the Iraq plan and go against the president.

Bush spoke about the progress made in Iraq thus far and stated that there has been enough progress to warrant a few more months to see what happens.

Bush asked for patience stating that right now the war is one “ugly” conflict

The House voted 223-201 hours after the speech by Bush to force a withdrawal by April 1st. The magin was not veto-proof though and only four Republicans joined the cause.
