Gaza Strip – Hamas dismissed and basically ignored the presidential ban to dismantle all armed groups in Palestinian territories set by Abbas.
The Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip on June 14th after days of fighting with the Fatah militants of Abbas. Abu Obaida, spokesman for the Hamas’ military stated that the ban was “mere ink on paper and doesn’t worth the ink that was used to write it.”
Spokesman for the Fatah Ahmed Abdel Rahman stated that the Abbas banw as an attempt to try and get a grip on the security of the territories. As of right now they are in absolute chaos and are as hot as ever with rebellion and fighting.
The decree itself read that “the armed militia and the irregular military or paramilitary formations are forbidden from carrying out any underground or public activities, and anyone assisting them will be subject to legal inquiry.”
Apparently the Hamas didn’t get the memo.
