Washington -The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) are planning to sue a Boeing subsidiary claiming the CIA transported 3 terrorist suspects overseas and tortured them during the flight.
According to the ACLU an Italian citizen, and Egyptian citizen and an Ethiopian were “mistreated” during their flights.
The three men are now prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, Morocco and Egypt respectively.
The lawsuit charges that the company (Jeppesen Dataplan) knowingly provided direct flight services to the CIA that enabled the clandestine transportation of the men to secret overseas locations.
“American corporations should not be profiting from a CIA rendition program that is unlawful and contrary to core American values,” said Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the ACLU. “Corporations that choose to participate in such activity can and should be held legally accountable.”
The suit claims they were tortured and subjected to other “forms of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.”
The ACLU said its lawsuit was being filed under the Alien Tort Statute, which permits aliens to bring claims in the United States for violations of the law of nations or a United States treaty. It said the statute recognizes international norms accepted among civilized nations that are violated by acts such as enforced disappearance, torture and other inhuman treatment.

Yes… Its about time justice is served! Jeppesen Dataplan had this one coming… How dare they provide routine ground based services to aircraft without knowing exactly what everyone on the plane is doing or thinking!
The ACLU should go after Delta Airlines next because they sold airline tickets to terrorists that helped them take out the WTC, therefore the blood of thousands is also on their hands.
Then I hope they sue McDonalds again because it is undoubtedly their fault that I am a fat overweight slob. I LOVE THE ACLU!

Right on! If you can’t trust the CIA to torture the right people, who can you trust?

The ACLU is the defense of our freedom. Even when you don’t like what their actions are, dont ever forget that by fighting for scum they are also keeping uncle sam at arms length of your freedom. Today they fight for the rights of scum, if they didnt the next person to be tortured would be citizens who dont agree in the religious agenda. They dont get to that because the ACLU is already on them. Enjoy your freedom, dont bother saying thank you, they do it anyway.

I could not agree with Lucas more. The aclu should also sue the companies who allowed their employees to work in the Twin Towers. After all, if the employeer had not allowed employee in the Twin Towers, the emplyee would not have been killed.

I have watched the ACLU drift steadily to the far left over the past few years and unfortunately moderates like myself no longer support them; to the expense of the good works they accomplish. They will eventually paint themselves out of the US social /cultural picture.

If memory serves me, none of the 4 flights on 9/11 were Delta Airlines jets.

Mike from comment 5, you’re naive. Religious agenda does not control the US, never has, never will. Religious fundamentalists founded the country, wrote the Constitution and gave you the privilege to be educated for free (a first) and the right to be an idiot. The religious right is not your enemy. Remember that. The ACLU does not safeguard freedom, it erodes it.

Mike, the country was not founded by religious fundamentalists. They were all Christians, but the founders adamantly opposed the mixing of religion and government.
The ACLU challenges anything that can be even remotely conceived as to restrict our first amendment rights.
Thats why I give them money. Its up to the courts to decide whether these challenges are proven true or false. Who else can stand up to the Bush administration or others set on imposing their values on the whole country.
And PLEASE show me an example of where they wanted to have crosses removed from churches. That is ridiculous and makes the poster look like an idiot to even post it.

Eric (8) you are correct. Two of the planes were united and two were AA (I think). But seeing as I am the typical lazy American, I decided that being factually accurate wasn’t nearly as important as being emotionally convicted about what I was talking about… besides, I’m sure Delta needs a good suing for something they did… and I think we can all agree that the ACLU could do a bang up job, even if it isn’t really warranted… or logical… or anywhere close to a good idea
