Washington - The results of Pew Research Center’s first poll of Muslim-American opinion holds few real surprises, but that does not mean it should be overlooked.Pew’s random survey of 1,050 Muslim-Americans found that a majority–though only slight (53%)–feel it has become more difficult to be a Muslim in the US since 9/11, with roughly the same percentage saying they believe the government “singles out” Muslims.
Here are some of our visitor comments regarding this story
“Only a relatively few American Muslim Americans believe the U.S.-led war on terror is about combating Islamic extremism”
Utterly shocking, how COULD they be so deluded. They probably think it’s about oil or maintaining American hegemony or frightening the easily frightened American populace into giving up all of their liberities or some totally unfounded crazy thesis like that.

I hope those greedy legislators at the Capitol Hill are reading/listening.
They should legislate just like some European Countries like Denmark, France which states ” to come their country, you must first owe allegiance to that country and accept their values or else, you’re not welcomed or get out”. It will be just a matter of time when these(US)legislator and their cronies wether at home or abraod will be blown up with their loots. Let them continue to remain in denial. Wether they call it Civil Liberty or bill of right or bill of wrong( you may choose what you want to call it).

Just think what the U.S. would be like if half of the Christian population considered themselves Christian first and American second. Boy would that hurt the economy.
“American” is a nationality. When you put that before God, you’re living for a lesser reason. I’m a born and raised American Muslim, of Dutch, Native American and Creole blood, and I’m under 30. I don’t believe that suicide bombings are justified. First off it’s it’s wrong, and it’s also against Islam to 1. Kill yourself, and 2. Murder people. Y’all don’t have to take my word for it and I know you won’t. Just keep on watchin’ that good ol’ Fox!

I am a christian, and have a little to say on the subject of American Muslims.I dont think that there is any difference in the one’s that are here in America and the Muslims in the rest of the world. It’s one religion, devided into parts. On Group moves in to convert,if no converts then extremist section moves in.They have one agenda, world wide Islam. In the sixty’s most all converts were violate people, such as the black muslims, and other people who looked for group’s of people who liked violance, and had a protocol to fit them.Muslims fit the bill, and were used to fight fore their cause.I think all Muslims are Muslims, and will follow after their umma, just like the one’s we call extremist.

I think those who believe suicide bombings are acceptable have been persuaded by propaganda, here at home and abroad.
Until an immigrant group decides to become a full member of his or her community, that propaganda will be successful.
Unfortunately, the culture of Islam is narrow–especially relationships and interaction between male and female. I’m not sure that a scriptural literalist would permit full assimilation.
Like another poster, I think the story was presented fairly and without sensationalism.
And I think it gives us a lot to think about. Hopefully, politicians will listen.

i say close the borders completely, kick out all the illegals, and stop giving medical care to non americans when americans are without it. its a ridiculous system we have set up now regarding immigrants and needs to be changed along with the people who make the changes themselves!

As a muslim, let me say this.
It is great to live in America, because it gives me an opportunity to learn about my enemy, and how I might destroy him most effectively.
You are an ugly and dispicable people, and it is increasingly difficult to maintain my purity as I live among you. But that is my duty, and so I continue.
Regarding suicide bombings. Ask the question this way for a change. Why not? Why not enter into paradise while frustrating the work of infidels? It is perfectly logical to take the lives of those who have thrown their lives away, who have refused to embrace knowledge of the true God, Allah.
It is not about the reward as you infantile westerners love to fantasize about virgins, no it is about being one with God in his work on earth.
So yes we applaud the courages suicide bombers, and look forward to being reuinted with them in paradise.

I am a Christian first and an American second. That doesn’t make me any less patriotic but hopefully makes me more Christian. America is a country that declares you don’t have to lose your religion to belong here–whether you’re Jewish, Muslim, or any other religion. No one should panic about this.

ALLAH – A PERFECT GOD – A GOD OF REASON
The Pew Poll released today states that because 80% of Muslims oppose suicide bombings that this is somehow a good thing. The fact that 80% of Muslims do not support suicide bombings is nothing to take comfort in. The 20% figure supporting these killers means that potentially over 300 million Muslims support these brutal acts of murder.
What we need to do is change Islam. This can be done by exposing the irrational teachings of the Islamic Fundamentalists. You must start with the following declaration:
ALLAH AS THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE - THE CREATOR OF ALL LIVING THINGS IS PERFECT.
ALLAH AS A PERFECT GOD - IS A GOD OF REASON
AS A PERFECT GOD - A GOD OF REASON - ALLAH IS ALL PEACE AND LOVE
ALL MANKIND ARE THE CHILDREN OF ALLAH
ALL CHILDREN OF ALLAH ARE CREATED EQUAL AND THEIR LIVES ARE SACRED TO ALLAH
ALLAH IS NOT AN IRRATIONAL BEING. IF ALLAH IS IRRATIONAL THEN ALLAH IS NOT PERFECT AND THEREFORE SINCE ALLAH CANNOT BE IMPERFECT AN IRRATIONAL ALLAH IS NOT GOD
The above lays the intellectual framework for an Islamic Reformation.
All teachings in the Koran and all Islamic texts (written or verbal ) that are not the teachings of ALLAH - A GOD OF REASON are the teachings of man. This means that all teachings recorded in the Koran of murder, killing, violence, hate, suicide bombers, violent jihad, torture, maiming, inferiority of woman, women as instruments of sexual pleasure in paradise, honor killings, child sex, bigotry, inequality of infidels, that infidels can be murdered as a holy duty etc are irrational AND NOT THE TEACHINGS OF ALLAH – A GOD OF REASON – A GOD OF ALL LOVE AND PEACE.
All Imams/ Fundamentalists who quote these phrases from the Koran are blaspheming against Allah.
Osma bin laden and all other terrorists who issue Fatwas calling for death and destruction are blaspheming Allah - A PERFECT GOD - A GOD OF REASON.
By teaching young Muslims that ALLAH IS A GOD OF REASON - and that all teachings of Jihad, killing of infidels etc are sins against ALLAH - A PERFECT GOD - A GOD OF LOVE AND PEACE you will occupy the moral and intellectual unassailable high ground.
This is the only way to rescue Islam from these brutal killers
Any Muslim who refuses to accept that Allah is a PERFECT GOD – A GOD OF REASON – and refuses to follow the teachings of Allah – A GOD OF REASON are no longer Muslims. This means that the 20% who support suicide bombers - if they continue to support this evil - are not Muslims - they are blaspheming against the very essence of ALLAH – A GOD OF PEACE AND LOVE – A GOD OF REASON. All teachings in the Koran that are not of ALLAH - A GOD OF REASON - blaspheme ALLAH and are evil. In this way you can start to drive a stake through the heart of the evil irrational Islamic teachings.
Sincerely,
Larry Houle

For those who say Islam should be changed, I ask, why? Why would you change a religion that, over 1,400 years ago gave women their rights, abolished slavery (while just a few decades ago the “superpower America” was segregating based on color), and prohibited war unless in self-defense? A religion that taught its believers not to force its teachings on those who will not listen; as Allah is the only One who can control the faith in ones heart. Why hate and change a religion that was meant to spread peace and education among men and women of all races and religious beliefs. For those of you who publish comments and speak publicly about such a complex issue without further investigating the true beliefs and teachings of Islam, who are content with the knowledge you gained about these issues based solely on what the western based broadcasting tells you, you are IGNORANT; and I challenge you to learn, investigate, and don’t base your judgments on what you ‘hear’ on the news. Trust only the knowledge you gain from your personal research. For your information, I don’t condone suicide bombers, but I can understand why they would be forced to commit the ultimate sacrifice of life. And what boggles my mind is how a country where a murderer can get off on a lighter sentence because he/she has the option to plead “temporary insanity” according to the laws of the United States of America’s legal system; a country where a great number of its population is being treated for depression; a country where psychiatrists and psychologists and anti-depression medications are so commonly utilized; why can’t you look into the issue and ask “why would a young adult, a child, strap him/herself to bombs and commit suicide?” You can examine why a person commits suicide in America using psychology, their mental state, and environment; why do the suicide bombers in the Middle East get categorized as “terrorists”! They are NOT TERRORISTS! These people don’t have a chance in life. These people have family members die in front of them every day. They see death and blood 24-7. Think about how you would feel if your child was killed in front of you. If you home was taken away from you; if you didn’t have the freedom to leave your city, or the neighborhood, or even your house. I watch CNN 7 hours a day and feel emotionally drained and depressed from all the horrible news I hear about in Iraq (for both sides). I can’t imagine living in such a war zone. You can’t come near to sympathizing with these people sitting on your couch in your house sipping on a cup of coffee. Wake up and get real. Get Educated. And stop basing your opinions of such a peaceful Religion on the actions of such a small group of people just because that is what the media chooses to exploit. If you are truly intellectual and educated people, then I challenge you to learn about Islam from a credible source. I bet on my life you will be amazingly enlightened with how wonderful it is. Just remember, the number of converts to Islam increased after September 11. Critical thinking question, WHY?

Peace be upon you all,
These are some reminders for all of us:
Dear fellow Muslims:
• Do not be a Muslim, but act Muslim
• Act Muslim to be called Muslim
• Read and Learn the sacred knowledge
• Talk less and listen more
• Please do not be emotional and control your reaction
• Work hard and enjoy being in this great land, but give back to society
• Participate in interfaith dialogues with all other religions and in particular our fellow Jews and Christians
• Never hate a person but hate their evil action
• Be gentle to animals and considerate to environment
• Killing a cat may lead you to heel
• Think of other as potentially better than you, because they may/will be
Dear fellow US Residents:
• Know that an evil internal heart will absolutely externalize an evil action
• Know that he/she who does not have something, can not give of it
• Know that he/she who does not have peace inside can not give peace outside
• Talk to a Muslim, not just hear about a Muslim
• Know that the 7+ millions American Muslims are peace loving, hard working citizens like the over 20,000 Muslim physician who save lives everyday
• Know that extremism is my issue, so lets make it our issue
• Time is short, provision is very limited, and lot of work to do
• Lets do it

None of you are truely Muslim, nor are you followers of Allah. The taking of any life is a sin, have any of you even read the Koran. Allah does not condone suicide bombers. You are all very confused.
