This means that even though he does not personally believe abortion is right, he believes that American women have the right to their privacy and their choice. It's not about riding the fence. Politically he sides with the rights of American women and in the end its about choice and a woman's abliity to exercise that right regardless of any personal opinions. Thats the bottom line.
