What has to be done

If you think you have been sick after consuming a product that is subject to a recall, contact your doctor.

Check if you have the products covered by the recall at home. If so, throw them away or take them to the store where they were purchased.

Food contaminated with E. coli O157: H7 does not necessarily show any visible alteration or suspicious odor, but can still make you sick. Possible symptoms are nausea, vomiting, more or less acute abdominal cramps, and watery or bloody diarrhea. In severe cases, some people may suffer from convulsions or stroke while others may need blood transfusions and dialysis. In some cases, damage to the kidneys is permanent. The disease can even cause death.

Context

This recall follows a recall from another country. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is currently conducting a food safety investigation that may result in recall of other products. Any other recalls of high-risk products will be reported to the public through an updated food recall notice.

The CFIA ensures that the recalled product is withdrawn from the market by the industry.

Cases of disease
