These chips are distributed in three sizes, in bags of 40, 66 and 220 grams. They are sold in grocery stores, pharmacies, department stores, food service outlets and vending machines across the country. All packaging with an expiry date prior to 20 June is recalled.
This measure is directly attributable to the recent recall of a mix of seasonings, which includes jalapeño powder that may contain salmonella, made by a supplier.
Although no trace of salmonella was found in the finished seasoning that was provided to Miss Vickie’s and no cases of poisoning were reported, the company decided to recall this product as a measure of caution.
The symptoms of salmonellosis are diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps.
Miss Vickie’s brand chips of other flavors are not affected by this recall.
