    Circumcision HIV impact questioned

Posted by administrator in Health (Wednesday October 8, 2008 at 11:53 am)

circumcision does not decrease the risk of infection by HIV / AIDS.

Washington – A new study on homosexual men stated circumcision does not decrease the risk of infection by HIV / AIDS.

Testing conducted some time ago in Africa indicated that the procedure reduced the possibility of transmission of human immunodeficiency virus among men and women up to 60 percent.

However, the new study released this week in the journal of the Medical Association of the United States stresses that there is no conclusive evidence that circumcision decreases the risk of transmission of AIDS among men.

The authors of the trial, explained that the research was conducted between 53 thousand 567 subjects, part of which was operated.

They indicated that circumcision can play an important role in certain cases, but it is also essential to lead a healthy sex and consistent condom use.

Experts agree on the importance of focusing efforts on education programs, access to diagnostic tests and use of condoms to prevent the spread of a disease that affects more than 30 million people.
