New Research Show Fish Oil Supplements Aid In Heart Risks
Washington, D.C.- The new research that is being done on the effects of fish oil and supplements that have fish and fish products in them is being shown to have different medical and health benefits.
The daily use of sources of Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids are revealing the reduction of different risks associated with heart attacks and heart failure.
A new Italian study that examined the effects of daily doses of fish oil has shown a corresponding reduction in the number and severity of heart attacks in people that diligently take a daily dose of fish oil.
In a parallel heart attack and heart failure trial, cholesterol lowering statin drug has shown that it had no beneficial effect on heart issues or reducing the risk. This was a surprise to researchers as it is commonly assumed that taking statins would help heart risks.
“This is information that confirms different observational studies we have been engaging in for a couple of decades,†said Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian.
Dr. Mozaffarian is the associate professor of epidemiology and medicine at Harvard Medical School, and spoke out regarding the results of the newly revealed fish oil trial.
“We have known and this confirms the benefits of Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids for everyone, and specially heart failure patients,†said Dr. Mozaffarian.
The results of the Italian fish oil trial and the parallel statin trial are both being published online in the medical journal “The Lancet,â€Â and will be presented at the European Society of Cardiology meeting in Munich, Germany this week.
