Nearly 1.3 Million Less Have Health Care Insurance Than Last Year
Washington, D.C.- In a report prepared by the US Census service, it was revealed that over 45 million Americans are without health care insurance.
This is a rise of 1.3 million Americans over what was reported in 2007, and it is the first year since President Bush took office that the number of insured Americans dropped.
There are many reasons for this, and some of the blame is being aimed at different programs that are new this year. The Medicare and Medicaid programs nationwide have changed some of their eligibility issues, as well as the SCHIP program began for children.
David Johnson, the Chief of the US Census Bureau reported the findings, and stated that the results are still preliminary, but tend to indicate that less Americans are covered, either by private insurance through their employer, or by programs through the Federal Government.
Health insurance and health care is a very controversial topic, and it is one of the central issues in the race for President of the United States.
Republican Candidate John McCain favors private insurance and feels that much of the health care crisis can be aided by giving incentives to companies to encourage them to offer health insurance for their employees.
The Democratic candidate for President, Barack OBama seeks to find some method of universal health care for all Americans, provided by the Federal Government, but has not been specific in how he would fund it, or the exact method of implementation.
