Citizens Advised Not To Eat Some Maple Leaf Sliced Meats

Ottawa- The Food Inspection Agency of Canada is recommending that the public not consume certain lots of Sure Slice roast beef and corned beef that may have some bacteria or listeria monocytogene contamination.

Sliced meat products of the Sure Slice Roast Beef with product code 21333 and a best date of August 9th, and the Sure Slice Corned Beef with product code 21444 and a best date of August 23rd are both being recalled for contamination.

These are products that have been sent out to locations all across Canada, mostly to restaurants nursing homes and hospitals, and other institutions.

Some of the products have been sold to the public and deli counters, but most of these recalled products were sold to institutions.

No one has been confirmed to be sick from eating these products, but the Canada inspection service is not taking any chances.

The regulatory CFIA states that food that is contaminated with bacteria or Listeria type spores may not smell spoiled, or look bad, but if eaten it can cause high temperature, nausea, and other related symptoms of listeriosis.

Many of the experiences can resemble the flu, and those with weak immune systems are especially at risk.
