Canada Rejects Illegal Safe Injection Site

Vancouver Site Insite Violates The Law And Promotes Drug Abuse

Vancouver, B.C.= Health Minister Tony Clement remains staunchly against the Vancouver safe drug injection site Insite, which is in violation of national drug laws.

The Insite location provide drug needles and medical supervision, but otherwise does not get involved in the choices of drug addicts who come there to inject illegal drugs.

Despite this, the Canadian Government, speaking through public health minister Clement has remained strongly in opposition to the Vancouver facility, citing that it promotes drug usage.

The WHO is one of the attendees at the 17th annual International HIV/AIDS convention being held this week in Mexico City, and they are supporters of safe drug injection sites.

At supervised drug sites such as the Vancouver Insite supervised site, people who are addicted to drugs can get needles and in theory cannot be arrested for injection of drugs, or prosecuted for drug usage.

It is this “free pass” that the Federal Government is so strongly in opposition of.

According to statistics supplied by the Government in Ottawa, a majority of the citizens across Canada also do not support the Supervised Drug facility located at the Insite Location in Vancouver.

Canadian Citizens support handing out needles and other passive support to promote people from not spreading diseases such as HIV or AIDS by sharing needles.

But giving drug addicts a free place to commit illegal activity is something that the Federal government cannot support.
