Popular Sunscreens Do Not Perform As Advertised

Boston, MA- There are a lot of sunscreens on the market, and a new study further emphasizes that many of the popular brands simply do not perform as advertised.

These sunscreens fail to give even the most basic protection, yet they often are the most popular sunscreens that are available on the market.

The new study that is being offered by the research firm Mintel surveyed over 750 sunscreens and found the majority do not perform as advertised.

Researchers found that the majority of sunscreens do not protect against the sun or its UVB rays, which is the most basic protection that people expect from their sunscreen products.

Many sunscreens that have a high SPF rating do not provide UVB protection, and this can be confusing to the customers, as well as bordering on false advertising.

Researchers examined both the protection numbers offered by the SPF ratings as well as the overall level of protection that the products seemed to offer.

Very few sunscreens feature UVB protection and the ones that were labeled as offering UVB protection actually were the ones in testing that did best overall

Experts suggest that when the purchasing public buys sunscreens that they should look for both UVB and SPF listed protection.
