Concerns About Many Who Lobby That Work to Affect Regulation

Ottawa- Some of the same people who are responsible to regulate the use and fair activity of cell phones in Canada have associations that are troubling.

Two Senior Ottawa Government officials that are partly responsible for developing Cell phone safety have been linked to some powerful lobbying groups that go before different government organizations.

Health Canada and Industry Canada both have seats on the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association Committee, and two members of the government that are support to be regulating cell phones are the ones that occupy these seats.

Is such a placement for officials that are supposed to be keeping the keys of the kingdom regarding cell phones a conflict of interest?

Cell phone safety is an item in the news, and having the appearance conflict of appearance is not only unseemly, it makes personnel in our own government appear to be acting on their own behalf instead as representatives of the government.

The Canadian Wireless Association Committee is one of the most official and successful of the lobbying groups that come before Parliament and it is a bit of a concern to have members of the government itself serving on this committee.
