Treatment And Early Detection Regarded As Key
Mexico City- For many years there has been a lot of debate as to where to spend dollars in the fight against HIV and AIDS around the World.
Some groups favor education, others are very treatment oriented.
Still other groups want to work in dealing with detection of the disease that is often rampant in groups of young people.
The 17th International Aids Conference has opened and it is working to bring different groups of individuals and AIDS activists together, to discuss, to visit, to compare notes, and to try and complete some ideas of what is the best expenditure of AIDS and HIV research money.
In the past treatment has been approached by taking drugs and trying to make sure they are available at affordable prices.
Now, because of the success in overall AIDS treatment, more is being sought for education and prevention in other areas.
The conference runs all this week In Mexico City and deals with a lot of different ideas and brings together the best groups and resources to design new ideas.
People who are infected now can live longer, more productive lives, and using money to provide for economical medication is important.
