One Adult And Fourteen Boy Scouts Stricken
Richmond, VA- An outbreak of unknown origin has struck at a Virginia Boy Scout camp, with 14 campers and one adult falling ill from E. Coli from a yet to be determined source.
Between 50 and 60 scouts and Boy Scout Camp Staff were reported feeling ill, and taken to local area hospitals.
Most of the scouts that have been removed to hospitals are from the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountain Area, and more accurate reporting of their original locations was not possible.
The Boy Scout Camp has not been able identify the origin of the infection, and about 70 campers were at the Goshen Scout Reservation in Rockbridge County VA. That appear to be now getting ill.
The Virginia Department of Health began getting reports from Scout Families that were the first to return home from the Boy Scout Camping outing.
Families began to report that their Boy Scout campers were falling ill, and showing signs of nausea, fever, diarrhea and cramps.
Nearly 1500 scouts and 200 adult staff leaders were at the annual July 20-26 Boy Scout Campout at the Goshen Scout Reservation, and the majority appear to have not been stricken with the illness.
