Investigators Frustrated At Lack Of Source Clues
Vancouver, B.C.- A team of 50 different health experts is working round the clock in British Columbia to try and locate, and isolate the cause of the salmonella that is plaguing the province.
There are expected to be as many as 50 times the amount of people sick as the health professionals are seeing.
The efforts to find the source comes on the heels of the successful discovery of a Mexican source for the United States salmonella epidemic that has struck over 1200 people in 45 states in the last 3 months.
The Canadian outbreak is not as widespread, and it doesn’t have as many victims as yet, but it also is not known where or how the current outbreak started, or what caused it.
Dr. Galanis of the B.C. Centre for Disease Control has spoken out, saying that she believes that the current number of patients in the Fraser Valley region is more than medical professionals are seeing.
“It is a widespread outbreak that is fairly serious,†stated Dr. Galanis.
There have been no reported cases that have yet resulted in death, but there have been a large amount of people admitted to the hospital because of severe symptoms resulting from the salmonella outbreak.
