Nearly One In Four Adults Is Overweight
Atlanta, GA- The latest figures on obesity in the United States, while not surprising, are still very disturbing and alarming to both the general public and to those in the Health Care field.
The information was published on Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is taken from the 2007 national telephone survey.
This set of data probably underreports because people tend to underestimate their own obesity, and the phone survey talks to people directly about their own weight.
Obesity in the United States has skyrocketed in the last seven years, up from 19.8 percent overweight in the year 2007, to the current rate of 25.6 percent of adults in America believed to be overweight.
Three states, Alabama – 30.3 percent, Mississippi – 32.0 percent, and Tennessee – 30.1 percent are pushing the limits of obesity even further.
Americans are featured with a diet that is second to none, and the food and portion options that members and citizens of other countries are envious of.
It is precisely because of portion control, and the easy assess to food that is high in sugar and calories that people are gaining weight, and the rate of obesity is rising so alarmingly.
People are also not nearly as prone to exercise, with the technological age and arena that they find themselves in.
