Urgent Need As Supply For Necessary Operations Is Dangerously Low

Toronto- There is a call going out across Canada today for people to volunteer to donate blood.

The supply of blood available across the nation of Canada is very low; it has not been keeping up with the unexpectedly high summer demand for the life giving substance.

According to Canadian Blood Service Officials the need across Canada on a weekly basis is about 63,000 single donations, which is at a rate about 2,000 donations higher than is normally required.

“This could mean there has been more accidents or trauma in Canada, or that hospitals that normally could close for the summer have been required to stay open,” said Bonnie Monteith.

Ms. Bonnie Monteith is the spokeswoman for the blood Canadian CBS organization.

“We have enjoyed strong support and a lot of donors and we are very thankful, but we
are in need of even more assistance and donations,” said Monteith.

During the summer is when traditionally different groups of people vacation in Canada, and this often cuts donations because people have their attention focused on other things.

This is also when there is a lot greater risk because of increased traffic on roadways, many of which may be remote scenic locations, where if accidents occur there is a sudden need for donated blood.
