Many Physicians Are Choosing Not To Participate In Federal Program

Dallas, TX- Nearly half of the active Doctors in Texas are choosing not to participate in the Federal health care Medicare program.

Forty Two percent of Doctors in Texas so far have chosen to opt out of Medicare Participation, with other Doctors joining their ranks each month.

Many Doctors are tired of having to fight with Medicare over reimbursement, and the repeated and continued cuts to the level of which their expenditures are covered.

Before 1991, the level of Doctors that accepted Medicare in Texas topped 90 percent; now only 58 percent of active Texas Physicians accept the Federal Medicare program.

The Texas Medical Association predicts that this trend will continue, with more Doctors opting out of Medicare reimbursement as time passes.

Unless Congress acts, it will be difficult for elderly and disabled people who have Medicare as their only medical insurance to receive medical care in the state of Texas.

This trend is not just in Texas, other state medical associations are reporting the same negative trend among their doctors and medical professionals.

Unless Congress acts when they come back from their July 4th recess, there is another reimbursement cut of 10.6 percent that will go into effect July 15th.
