Babies Delivered In Less Than Fifteen Minutes
Houston, TX-A Houston woman has successfully given birth to five babies at a hospital located in Phoenix nationally known for its multiple births.
The babies are about nine weeks early; they were expected to be born in August in Texas but came now, while their parents were in Phoenix Arizona.
Ellen Howell, 33 years old, gave birth to three girls and two boys, each weighing about 2 pounds.
Doctors at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix delivered the five babies via caesarean section with less than three minutes between each baby.
The babies were immediately put into neonatal intensive care and they will remain there for a few months before they can return to Houston.
These births are both the first and so far the only for the couple, the five babies are the couples only children.
The children are Sidney Alun, Ivy Elizabeth, Briellen Jeanette for the girls, and Luke Harrison and Mitchell Thomas for the boys.
Quintuplet Births are fairly rare according to the National Center for Health Statistics.
There were just 68 births in 2005 that involved more than 5 babies. It is the 10th set of quintuplets born at the Phoenix hospital.
