FDA Clears Florida Grown Tomatoes As Not At Risk
Washington, D.C.- After a nationwide scare and current salmonella outbreak, the FDA acted swiftly and examined the crop and harvest of Florida grown Tomatoes .
After careful examination of the current salmonella outbreak, and the schedule of tomato harvesting in Florida, the Federal Food and Drug Administration has declared that the tomatoes that are grown in Florida are now safe to eat again.
The FDA had previously in past days declared that the tomatoes produced in Florida were possibly tainted, and unsafe to eat.
This brought the Tomato harvest and current crop in Florida to the brink of disaster, and had numerous large companies and harvesting firms in a panic.
Charles H. Bronson said the FDA has declared Florida Grown Tomatoes safe now.
Bronson is the Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner, and the person responsible for insuring the safety of Florida grown agriculture products.
Being cleared by the FDA is a vital step, but many consumers will remain wary, and this may negatively affect the tomato industry in Florida for the rest of this season.
Various restaurants and stores have declared that they would not serve Tomatoes grown or harvested in Florida as a result of the FDA declaring them unsafe earlier this week.
While the Tomato harvest in Florida has been declared safe, the current outbreak of salmonella is still largely a mystery.
