New Study Reveals More Than Half Endure Chronic Condition
Washington, D.C.- A little more than half of the 20.6 million people in the United States who have Diabetes in any form suffer from Arthritis.
A new report in the May 9th edition of Morbidity and Mortality Weekly reveals that if you are physically active you will be at a greater chance of controlling both diseases both because of the way that exercise helps reduce blood sugar and in reduction of joint pains.
The precise cause that links the two diseases together is not known, but one theory is that both conditions are affiliated with obesity, and that they may tie together that way.
“The fact that Arthritis is in high amounts of the population of diabetics is surprising,” said Dr. John H. Klippel.
Dr. Klippel is the CEO and President of the Arthritis Foundation.
Most of the individuals who suffer from arthritis and diabetes are physically inactive. “We do know that for people with diabetes, physical activity is crucial to help with blood sugar control,” said Dr. Klippel.
Public health mandates that gentle regular exercise be encouraged for everyone, but especially for those individuals that suffer from arthritis and diabetes. Getting regular exercise helps an individual control their weight, also.
