Lower Prices On Drugs Continued For More Prescription Drugs

Little Rock, AR- In a continuation of the program that was started in 2006, Wal Mart announced on Monday that they would be offering their drug program with an additional 1,000 drugs added to the list.
The retail giant announced the news at a news conference noting that they would also begin to offer 90-day supplies of some types of drugs for $10 dollars, and that several types of women’s medications would be added to the list of featured drugs.
In addition Wal Mart plans to drop the price of more than 1,000 different over the counter medications to $4 dollars or lower in its corporate pharmacies. The medication price for these medications represent about 1/3 of the medications over the counter that Wal Mart currently sells.
“We want to add customers, and to build capacity in our stores,†said John Agwunobi said. Mr. Agwunobi is the senior vice president for Wal Mart. “This program offers our customers significant savings and gives us the ability to add capacity without having to add people to our pharmacy sales,†said Mr. Agwunobi.
Wal Mart has added a number of formerly expensive drugs to its current sales formulary. One drug, Tamoxifen, which is used to treat breast cancer, has been lowered to $9 dollars for a 30-day supply of the medication.
