Possible Outbreak Of H5N1 Discovered In Mainland China

Hong Kong- Reports of the possible outbreak of bird flu have eased in this Asian nation, with only one additional case of the flu reported in the last 24 hours. The attention in the region has shifted to Mainland China, however, as there are reports of dead birds that are fueling new H5N1 flu fears.
Only one new case of the flu was reported in Hong Kong, in an elderly home which gives the government cause to relax. The scare that the most recent outbreaks in Hong Kong were from the Bird Flu has proven false, but the level of fear was very high for several days. There were two children who died from the flu in Hong Kong in the last two weeks, but both of these victims had other illnesses, which helped cause, their deaths.
Neither victim had the H5N1 strain. Both victims were given cultures following their deaths to make sure that the strain of flu was not the bird flu variety.
Meanwhile in Mainland China, there are new fears of Bird Flu outbreaks. Schools in several regions of Southwest China have been closed due to reports of flu cases. It is not known if the new cases of flu in China are seasonal, or caused by the Bird Flu.
