Lincoln (EON) - The West Nile virus is more potent than ever in Nebraska as the number of human cases has increased to 15 since just last week.
The total of humans infected with the West Nile virus in Nebraska according to the Nebraska Health and Human Services is now at 113. There have been 3 deaths thus far in Nebraska which have been confirmed to be due to the West Nile virus as well.
There are 93 counties in Nebraska with 43 of them reporting cases of West Nile. Many residents are eagerly awaiting for the cold to get here as it will take the first hard freeze to get rid of the mosquitoes.
Symptoms according to the Nebraska Health and Human Services include those similar to the flu such as fever and being weak.
The West Nile is on the move this year more than ever as it has been a very rough season across the United States, and as you can see is doing a lot of damage in Nebraska.
The latest cases are coming from Cuming County in Nebraska.
Its recommended to get rid of standing water and reduce contact with mosquito breeding areas.
