Topps Meat Company has announced an expansion to their recall of ground beef which may have been tained with a strain of the E. coli bacteriaBoston (EON) - Topps Meat Company has announced an expansion to their recall of ground beef which may have been tained with a strain of the E. coli bacteria.

The company stated that they are voluntarily recalling around 331,582 pounds of ground beef products.

The products were all produced on June 22, 2007, July 13, 2007, and July 23, 2007 and were sent to retail grocery stores and food service institutions across the United States.

This came to the attention of the public and Topps Meat when a sampling was done by the New York Departmen of Health.

Several illnesses were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention causing them to lead an investigation.

This is the first recall in over 65-years of the company being in existence. The products have already all been pulled from the shelves of grocery stores but may still be in the freezers’ of consumers.
