New York – BPA is a chemical in some soft plastic water bottles but it’s most common in hard plastics, such as baby bottles, water cooler jugs and microwave dishes.
U.S. scientists have looked at hundreds of studies, including animal studies that suggest BPA can cause brain damage, cancer and hyperactivity.
The scientists say BPA may be harmful to pregnant women, fetuses and infants.
Panel chairman, Dr. Robert Chapin, says, “The youngest are most susceptible, but that’s just a hypothesis.”
The University of Missouri’s Dr. Fred Von Saal says, “I would look around find another source of container to feed my baby from.”
The plastics industry says the product is safe.
The scientists want more studies.
