First FDA Approved Diet Pill Now Available

Toronto  – On Wednesday, the first FDA approved over-the-counter diet pill became available at some stories, according to media reports.

The drug called, Alli, works by reducing the amount of fat your body soaks up from your diet. It is recommended to be taken at the beginning of each meal, but more than three times a day.

The diet capsule works by blocking the enzymes in your intestines from breaking down about 25% of the dietary fat in the food you eat. The undigested fats don’t get used by the body and go through unused naturally. Therefore your body can’t store the fat as body fat.

Alli has been shown to be very effective in clinical trials. Between 35% and 54% of test subjects showed a 5% or greater reduction in body mass, but not all of the mass was necessarily body fat. After test subjects stopped taking it they regained up to 35% of the body weight they had lost while using Alli.

Another, and possibly greater, effect from Alli usage is a lower probability of diabetes. During test trials, there was a very significant 37% decrease in the occurrence of type 2 diabetes.

Alli is a combination of a diet pill and a fat reduction strategy to help you succeed better than dieting alone. It is meant as a part of an overall weight loss plan used with a low fat, lower calorie diet together with an exercise program.

Some of the main benefits of Alli:

    ● Body fat reduction
    ● Lowered chance of type 2 diabetes
    ● Combination of a pill and informational support
    ● First over the counter FDA approved weight loss pill
However not everyone agrees that Alli is all it’s cracked up to be.
Some experts note that in order to see any significant effects fromt he pill, you still need to eat a low fat diet and stick to a regular exercise regime.

“An increase in having to go to the bathroom, more frequent stools, also loose stools maybe some gas that might cause discomfort and those are all things related to the fat intake so as you lower your fat intake those side effects will go away,” Director of Pharmacy at Sacred Heart Hospital John VanDe Voort said.

He adds that although Alli is not a quick fix, the pill can still offer people serious about weight loss, a jump start.

    1. People need to learn about how toxins in our body contribute to weight gain. People also need to realize that anything that is FDA approved has the LD-50 (lethal dose of 50%) meaning 50% of the rats/mice tested must die at some point during the testing phase to know how much is considered lethal to humans. I’m a true believer in cleansing the toxins from my body and the products I use WORK! and they are 100% natural/organic.

Best of Luck to those who take the risk of trying Alli.

I seriously hope you don’t end up screwing up your precious immune system. Think about it — your digestive track is the strongest part of your immune system – why flush it down the toilet?

      Blessings

    2. I really hope this will be a more effective tool at helping people who are overweight with dropping their pounds. So far it seems to be safer than phen/fen, the only drawback that isn’t mentioned in this article is – how does reduced but undigested fat “go through unused naturally”?

    3. How about instead of spending all this money researching how to pander to fat ass bastards that eat too much and spend it on food to feed the people in america that die every day from hunger?
yeah- that would be in the public interest.
      Down with corporate government.

    5. You could always just eat less fat. This way it would cost less and be chemical free.

      Wow, Im a genius.

    6. what about exercise … was this even part of the test, maybe the reason they are larger then “normal” is because they eat to much and do not exercise!?

    7. the side effects are pretty bad. I felt sick pretty much all the time. you will get better results from exercise.

    9. Another lazy pill. If people would just eat sensibly and exercise, they would not need this stuff. And don’t give me that “I have a thyroid problem” because it is BS. People that eat properly and exercise do not get fat.

    11. OK, so we’re still working on pills that will allow people to retain their unhealthy eating habits and not get as big; but when will we start working on solutions that stop people from eating unhealthily in the first place?? If you restricted a morbidly obese person to a standard 2500-calorie diet, sure they would be uncomfortably hungry, but they wouldn’t be morbidly obese. The solution is not a pill – it’s bio-discipline!

    12. Just another example of Big Pharma creating another “miraculous solution” for overweight people. Go see Michael Moore’s new movie ‘Sicko’! Did anyone miss the quote above – “After test subjects stopped taking it they regained up to 35% of the body weight they had lost while using Alli.” Without lifestyle changes – exercise, whole grains, greens, dealing with underlying issues, no drug will EVER make a real difference. Get a health counselor to help support you while you do the work and reap the rewards! It IS possible to transform your health without the use of pharmaceuticals.

    13. hey, russter that’s not entirely true- people have different metabolisms. the issue is that each person needs to know more or less what theirs is and be disciplined about eating to it- I know a guy who pounds away 3 cans of dr. pepper a day and multiple bags of chips in one sitting- and he’s about 120lbs and a junior in college. the issue is that some people have slow basal metabolisms and they aren’t going to use much energy while resting- this means that they should plan accordingly and eat more when they’re more active, and less when they aren’t planning on doing much.

    14. Pills to lower weight are a temporary solution to a chronic problem. Since some of us are actually food obsessed naturally in our brains, it seems to be a better treatment to find something that will actually stop the desire for food. A pill that causes nausea with the intake of fats and sugars would be more helpful. This would train the brain that these foods are no good and to pass them by.

    15. I am so tired of people knocking the attempts to help overweight people slim down. Until the government start restricting the use of growth hormones and other additives that “help” to make us fat the pill is the next best thing!!!!!!

    16. Obesity can kill, for sure. In the important new book, Cancer: we live and die by radiation, Drs. Delfino and Day expose the perils of obesity in regard to both developing certain cancers and treating the cancers with radiotherapy or combined therapies like surgery plus radiation.

      Comment by Brenda McMahon, M.D. — June 15, 2007 @ 8:55 pm

    17. hmm, how do you suppose you’ll restrict such a person? Jail?

You mention self control like you have some, and they don’t.

Maybe if you had to cope with a craving or two or had a biochemical problem you’d have a different point of view.

And as for self control, they have it, just maybe it’s different, like they don’t drink to excess or they don’t beat up their kids.

People are more than the numbers on the scale, and “self control” is a nasty slap that isn’t helpful at all.

Some people have great control around food, and none around alcohol or drugs or wife beating, while others well, their control isn’t so good with food, but they are a lot nicer to be around than a shivering drug addict or a puking drunk.

I have a thyroid problem, a genuine one. I’m mildly overweight, but not seriously.

I’m nowhere near the clinically morbidly obese but honestly if diets worked so well, then we wouldn’t need anything else would we?

If diets were a drug, they’d be banned for having such poor results.

There is a lot more going on that impacts obesity than just a surfeit of calories.

Biochemical chain reactions within the body, genetics, allergies, food intolerances, and much more.

It looks like a lot of weight starts with learning from baby and toddler years, on up, but at some point a biochemical loop starts to play into the scene.

One such loop is the whole insulin resistance syndrome in which people crave the sugars and carbs that cause their problem.

Once into a cycle like that, it’s difficult to break it.

Another problem is the whole working parents, Tv watching snack eating kid after school thing going on. That is reality for a lot of working families, but it contributes to the tide of obesity.

Then tired working mothers come home and feed the family fast food. That doesn’t help.

I am blessed with not having too much trouble although I remain a few lbs overweight.

I am sure not going to blast the fat people for their problem, and I do hope we can break the cycle.

And I welcome any and all help that can do that for people who are otherwise law abiding, tax paying contributing members of society.

And if this drug helps, I’m glad it’s available. Personally I won’t bother with it, the side effects sound disgusting, but if I was desperate I might.

    18. I have heard that people who take this Alli have oily stools and explosive gas….and they have to carry an extra pair of pants around with them while on this drug!!!!

How more discussing can the FDA get??

What I would like to know is why this went straight to over the counter versus by prescription only?? Looks like to me that more of the overweight population will have access to this harmful drug and they won’t be monitored by their doctor.

RESEARCH side effects before you take anything. ALL FDA approved drugs, both over the counter and by prescription are TOXIC!! They have to prove a toxic level to get FDA approval.

Take something that is all natural, organic, no stimulants, not harsh….etc.

I have thyroid disease, so bascially I have NO metabolism and yet I have found what works for weight loss. By getting rid of the toxins that are stored in my fat cells, I was able to lose the fat!!

With all the toxins that we are exposed to in our everyday life, why would someone want to take products that are toxic??

Don’t put your health at risk to drop your overweight weight. Find what works naturally.

Click on my name and contact me to further discuss this.

WEIGHT LOSS THAT WORKS……and comes with a money back guarantee!!
