Pennsylvania (EON) – The West Nile virus has been detected in Pennsylvania.
This was the earliest detection of the West Nile virus in over 5 years in Pennsylvania.
A case of the West Nile virus was detected in a town near Altoona in Pennsylvania. Authorities have already sprayed four Altoona-area locations as of Tuesday night with plans to spray even further. Test results were confirmed after the plans were laid out to spray those areas.
Large numbers of mosquitoes are apparent along with mosquito bites in these towns and areas.
West Nile virus has not been detected here this early in the season in over five years as already stated and can cause fever, rash, headaches, meningitis, etc.
West Nile is usually found in late summer or early fall so with detection this early it could prove to be one of the worst seasons for the virus yet.
