Toronto – The Canadian mumps outbreak has now struck the largest city. Three new cases have been confirmed in Toronto.
Toronto’s public health officials believe that the current count of number of cases will climb.
Health officials belive that one night club in the city is where infection may have occured. The club had nearly 300 patrons.
“So we’re saying to those people: If they develop the signs or symptoms, swelling and pain in the salivary glands around the sides of their cheeks, fever, headache, muscle pains, aches, fatigue, loss of appetite they should give their doctor’s office a call,” said a public health offical at a news conference held Wednesday.
As of May 11 — the most recent date for which national numbers are available — the Public Health Agency of Canada was reporting 271 cases. But those numbers are already out of date
