New York – A new study has shown that people who exercise for only 10 minutes a day can still improve their cardiovascular fitness and have a healthier heart.
Research found that when obese women started to exercise for 72 minutes a week, about 10 minutes each day, they increased their peak oxygen consumption level. This means they had better cardiovascular fitness. The increase was by 4.2%.
“It was surprising to us, the idea that as little as 10 to 15 minutes of exercise a day could provide benefit in terms of fitness,” Dr. Timothy Church stated.
The study concluded that even this type of limited and slow paced walking made a huge difference in the health of a person. Obviously more exercise would be even more beneficial, but for those who hate to exercise it is good to know that it does not take much.
