London – A walk in the country could be a great alternative to taking drugs to deal with depression, according to British researchers .
Two new studies released Monday show there are several benefits that a simple walk in the country can have on the human brain.
In Europe care farms have been prescribed to people instead of medication.
Mind chief executive Paul Farmer said that “Mind sees ecotherapy as an important part of the future for mental health.â€
“It’s a credible, clinically-valid treatment option and needs to be prescribed by GPs, especially when for many people access to treatments other than anti-depressants is extremely limited.â€
Those who went on a 30 minute walk in the country had a 71 percent decrease in their level of depression and anxiety. 90 percent saw a self-esteem boost.
