Situation In Arctic Ice Affects Many Things Including Weather

Chukchi Sea, Alaska- The conditions of the Arctic Ice flow located in the far North has scientists around the world concerned, the ice cap is nearing new all time lows, the lowest amount of ice since records have been first kept.

The amount and condition of the Arctic ice affects a number of things, not just wildlife and their natural habitat.

The amount of Arctic ice affects such things as marine life that has been kept to the Pacific, without the ice being present, there are a number of species that are more predatory that will possibly invade both the Arctic Seas but also make their way potentially to the Atlantic, where they could overtake other Marine Species.

“No matter where you look at it, Arctic Ice in many areas appears to be in a death spiral,” said Mark Serreze.

Dr. Serreze is a scientist with the National Snow and Ice Data Center located in Boulder Colorado, and this is the agency in the United States that closely monitors and tracks the condition of Arctic ice in the far north.

The Chukchi Sea and the ice flows found in it hosts the worlds largest population of polar bears, and these bears are currently endangered and in need of new habitat.

The only problem, there is no habitat for them to go to, many areas on the mainland are inhabited by humans, and having populations of polar bears mixed with humans is extremely dangerous.
