U2 Bono bans President Donald Trump From Attending Concerts

VANCOUVER – U2 frontman Bono has banned U.S. President Donald Trump from going to any of the Bands concerts.

U2 are in Canada on a North American tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their The Joshua Tree album, but Bono says the U.S. leader is not welcome at their concerts.

“Trump’s supporters – the people who voted for Trump – are welcome at U2 gigs in America, but Donald Trump himself is not welcome at U2 gigs in America,” the Elevation singer told the Irish Independent newspaper. “I welcome his supporters. But him? I don’t want him here. A person like that.”

The 57-year-old’s anger with the President is due to the Trump administration floating moves to drastically cut HIV/AIDs research funding in draft budget documents released in March (17).

“I don’t want to meet a person like that,” the rocker explains. “I don’t think this hyperbole – the largest intervention in the history of medicine is the fight against HIV/AIDS and the Americans have led it. It has had cross-party support. Bush started it; Obama continued it, even though he wasn’t going to get the praise for it. And the idea that he (Trump) might undo that has me right on the back foot.”

Despite his objections to Trump, Bono met with his Vice President Mike Pence in February (17) and urged him to maintain funding for research into the disease.

“I know Pence has been fighting for this,” he explains. “I think this is important. I have fallen out with some of my friends over meeting Pence. But it is kind of my job, you know?”

Bono previously revealed Trump’s shock election victory in November (16) caused U2 to scrap their planned album Songs of Experience and head off on The Joshua Tree tour.

Bono, 57, also revealed details of the band’s new album, a follow-up to 2015’s Songs of Innocence, which is set for release next year.

The star said that RTE sports pundit Eamon Dunphy inspired a track on the new offering.

He explained: “Eamon Dunphy had a very big influence on our new single.

“He said when speaking of my missus that ‘Ali was the best thing about Bono.’ So we’ve written a song called You’re The Best Thing About Me.”

The trek began in Vancouver, Canada on Friday (12May17) with the North American leg concluding in Cleveland on 1 July (17) before the band head to Europe.

  1. This mans ego is out of control, as if Donald trump is sitting in the white house crying into his weetabix because he’s not allowed to go to a concert to see a band that should have retired 10+ years ago!

  2. As if…the egomaniac…..everyone wants to boycott his tour….who does he think he is? Lecturing on world woes and politics. ….all the while sitting on his millions that he hardly pays any tax on…..yeah right. ….people would respect you more if you paid your way! !!

  3. Maybe this comment wont be important for the majority of people.some of you will ignore it. Most of yall wont bother to read and it’ ll go unnoticed along with other comments maybe I’ll be criticized for this but I just want to let yall know I’m selling potatoes
