Actor George Clooney and Director Grant Heslov, who produced and co-wrote Good Night, and Good Luck, didn’t expect to be battling hurricanes, sandstorms, and a lack of incentives when they began shooting for Men Who Stare at Goats. With a budget under $20 million dollars, they didn’t have much of a choice. Luckily, the film has done $13.3 million dollars after its first three days.
The movie Men Who Stare at Goats is based on Jon Ronson’s nonfiction bestseller. The book and movie both have the basis that the government and soldiers use paranormal abilities to take on enemies. One of the favorite things about this movie, based on the players involved, is the title. They believe it will stick in people’s minds with ease. They also convinced Overture Films of the same thing. Of course, the script was the biggest selling point, but a good, catchy title is always a nice bonus.
Men Who Stare at Goats has a star-studded cast, including George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, and Jeff Bridges. So far, it has received solid reviews for movie goers and is likely to do well at the box office. That said, in Hollywood, nothing is ever a certainty.
