Rapper Dwayne Carter aka Lil Wayne who won four Grammy’s with his latest album titled “Tha Carter III”, has pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession which will most likely come with a one year jail sentence.

At the trial in New York on Thursday, the 27 year-old artist admitted to having a .40 caliber semi-automatic gun loaded on his tour bus which was searched back in July 2007 after a concert.

Police Officers said they saw marijuana smoke coming from the bus and when they approached the bus, Lil Wayne tossed away a bag containing a gun.

The rapper is also scheduled for a trial in Arizona on felony drug possession and weapons charges which stemmed from an arrest at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.

He has pled not guilty to these charges.

Wayne joins a long line of rappers who have also spent time in prison; the late Tupac Shakur, Lil Kim, Beanie Sigel, Shyne, Mystikal and C-Murder all spent anywhere from a few months to a few years behind bars for crimes they committed after becoming famous.
