Parker Posey has withdrawn from a lead role in the upcoming off-Broadway production of ‘This’ after developing Lyme disease, according to a report from the Huffington Post.
Posey, 40, was set to star in “This,” an Off-Broadway comedy, but a statement released by the theater company said she was forced to withdraw “due to a developing case of Lyme disease.”
The production company says the show will go on and a replacement for Posey will be announed in a few weeks.
According to the Mayoclinic.com, Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness that causes signs and symptoms ranging from rash, fever, chills and body aches to joint swelling, weakness and temporary paralysis. Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. Deer ticks, which feed on the blood of animals and humans, can harbor the disease and spread it when feeding.
