Despite conflicting reports about her current medical condition, one thing is certain—Farrah Fawcett is still alive and (her friends say) she is still fighting.
The 62-year-old former sex symbol and iconic star of “Charlie’s Angels,†was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. She received the traditional treatments for cancer—surgery and chemotherapy—and her cancer went into remission.
In late 2007, her cancer came back and had spread to her liver. Fawcett’s doctor advised her that she might need a colostomy. The star refused and, with long time love Ryan O’Neal by her side, she flew to Germany for a series of experimental cancer treatments.
Her battle with cancer was dramatically documented in “Farrah’s Story,†a homemade video that NBC broadcast to near record ratings. The end of the video shows Fawcett lying in bed, in a semi-conscious state.
Since then, a “death watch,†of sorts, has begun in the media. Some sources report that Fawcett is close to death, while other sources claim that she is fighting on. Another recent report said that she was getting her nutrition “intravenously,†while another stated that she had eaten a steak on her own. One recent report says that, although she ended the experimental cancer treatments in Germany, her American doctor is still treating her.
The only thing that is certain, at this point, is that Farrah Fawcett is still alive, and her fans and friends hope that she stays that way—for a long time.
