Rich or poor, famous or anonymous: the fight to live is always marked with pain and hope. The same is true for the struggle actress Farrah Fawcett has mounted against anal cancer over the last two years. However, even as people across the country have rallied for her cause and despite Fawcett’s most recent surge, recent reports suggest that the actress may be only weeks from the end.
The news, while upsetting, is certainly not a surprise. Fawcett’s struggle has been hard and long, and ever since her disease returned nearly a year ago, doctors have been increasingly less optimistic for recovery. Anal cancer is hard to treat, and it has spread to her liver. Fawcett’s cancer is considered to be stage four, which is very advanced.
However, according to a new post on the Fawcett’s official website, the actress could be on the road to recovery.
“Farrah is Fighting the Fight! Farrah, after being visited by the Bishop and Sister Mary, sat up in bed and asked for a steak from her favorite restaurant The Palm. Farrah had the strength to cut and eat the steak herself, she was ravenous,” read the message on farrahfawcett.us.
Not everyone has been overly sympathetic apparently, as actress Melissa Joan Hart reportedly commented last week that she hoped Fawcett could hold on a little longer so Hart could keep her slated place on the cover of People magazine, which could be preempted if Fawcett should pass. Hart has since apologized for her off the cuff remarks.
Meanwhile, Fawcett contintues to rest at home with her longtime partner Ryan O’Neal.
