Youtube has announced a new service which will allow owners of game consoles to watch YouTube videos on TV.

Toronto – Youtube has announced a new service which will allow owners of game consoles to watch YouTube videos on TV. The service, called YouTube for Television, was announced Thursday and will initially work only for Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii systems. It is expected that additional devices will be added in the future.

The interface has been changed and optimized for TV with larger text and easier navigation, allowing viewers to find and watch YouTube videos by using their remote control. Another enhancement is the ability to allow YouTube viewers to watch related videos in sequence without the need to select them individually. The new interface is designed to make watching YouTuve videos on television as simple as possible and naturally intuitive for people accustomed to navigating their TV via remote control.

The tagline for this new service is â€œYouTube on any screen, any time.â€ The service will initially air in 22 countries in 12 languages. The future of this service will depend on how much acceptance is gained by this popular internet service, as well as adoption by advertisers and content providers.

Since YouTube began its migration to TV via Apple TV in 2007, it is unclear how many people are actually watching YouTube on television as these numbers havenâ€™t been released.
